How to Cancel Hulu: Steps for Your Billing Provider

Quick answer

How to cancel Hulu

If Hulu bills you directly, cancel through your account on a computer or mobile browser. Open Your Subscription, select Cancel, continue past any pause offer, and complete Cancel Subscription. For another billing provider, start with the billing check below.

To stop your Hulu subscription renewing, cancel through the route for your billing provider. Check who bills you first, then follow the matching steps and keep the confirmation. Payments remaining within an agreed subscription term may still be due.

Check who bills your Hulu subscription

The device you watch on doesn't necessarily determine where you cancel. Using Hulu on an iPhone, Android phone or Roku TV does not mean that company handles your payments.

  1. Open Hulu.com in a browser and sign in.
  2. Open your profile or account menu and select Account or Manage account.
  3. Find Payment Information and check the billing party listed there.
  4. Match it to the route below. If the charge doesn't match the account you're viewing, check your receipt and other account email addresses.

Hulu identifies the biller in Payment Information. See its billing-party guidance.

Cancel Hulu on its website

Use a computer or mobile browser if Hulu bills you directly. Hulu also documents website cancellation for existing Amazon-billed accounts, Roku, T-Mobile and Optimum.

  1. Go to Hulu.com in your browser. On a phone, open the menu if you need to find Log in.
  2. Sign in with the account connected to the subscription.
  3. Open your profile or account menu and choose Account or Manage account. You can also open the Hulu Account page after signing in.
  4. Under Your Subscription, select Cancel.
  5. If Hulu offers to pause your subscription, select Continue to Cancel to proceed with cancellation.
  6. Complete any remaining on-screen prompts, then select Cancel Subscription.
  7. Check the cancellation status and save your confirmation email.

These final controls come from Hulu's cancellation instructions. Don't stop at the pause offer or assume the first Cancel click finished the process.

For a T-Mobile-billed account, canceling Hulu does not cancel your T-Mobile plan. For an Optimum bundle, review the displayed access end date and effect on Disney+ as well as Hulu before confirming.

Cancel an Apple-billed Hulu subscription

Use these steps for an existing Apple-billed Hulu subscription.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Hulu. Make sure you're using the Apple Account that purchased it.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription. Scroll down if you don't see the button.
  6. Complete the confirmation prompts and check the expiration date.

If Hulu isn't listed, check the Apple Account on your receipt. For detailed cancellation steps, troubleshooting and refund requests, see our guide to canceling subscriptions on iPhone.

Cancel a Google-billed Hulu subscription

Use these steps for an existing Google-billed Hulu subscription.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Check that you're using the Google account that paid for Hulu.
  4. Tap Payments & subscriptions.
  5. Tap Subscriptions.
  6. Select Hulu.
  7. Tap Cancel subscription.
  8. Choose a reason if asked, then complete the final cancellation prompt.
  9. Check the subscription's end date and save the confirmation.

If you can't find Hulu, check your other Google accounts and the receipt. Our Google Play cancellation guide includes detailed steps, browser cancellation, troubleshooting and refund requests.

Cancel a Disney+-billed bundle

If Disney+ bills your bundle, cancel through Disney+. If Hulu bills it, use the Hulu website steps above.

  1. Open DisneyPlus.com in a computer or mobile browser and sign in.
  2. Select your Profile.
  3. Select Account.
  4. Under Subscription, select the subscription that includes Hulu.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription and complete the prompts shown.
  6. Check the end date and save the confirmation.

See Disney+'s cancellation instructions.

Does canceling Hulu cancel Disney Plus? Check whether you're canceling a combined bundle or a separately billed Hulu plan. Ending a bundle changes access to its included services. An original, separately billed Disney+, Hulu or ESPN subscription may continue unless you cancel it separately. Review each active plan instead of assuming one cancellation ends them all. Hulu's bundle guidance.

Cancel an HBO Max-billed bundle

If HBO Max bills your Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle, manage it through HBO Max. Check the biller before using these steps.

  1. Open HBOMax.com and sign in.
  2. Choose your profile.
  3. Open Subscription and check who bills the plan.
  4. If HBO Max bills you directly, choose Cancel Your Subscription.
  5. Confirm cancellation and note the expiration date.

Canceling the combined bundle affects the services included in it. If another provider appears in HBO Max's billing details, use that provider's cancellation route instead. See HBO Max's cancellation instructions and Hulu's HBO Max billing guidance.

Cancel Hulu through Comcast Xfinity

These steps apply to an existing Xfinity-billed Hulu subscription. Watching Hulu on an Xfinity device alone does not establish Xfinity billing.

  1. Open Settings on your Xfinity device.
  2. Open Apps & Subscriptions.
  3. Find your Hulu subscription and follow its displayed cancellation options.
  4. Complete the confirmation flow and keep the cancellation details.

Hulu says you retain access until the end of the current billing cycle. If the cancellation option is missing, contact Xfinity support about the Hulu subscription on your bill. See Hulu's Xfinity billing instructions.

Cancel Hulu through Verizon

For a Verizon-billed Hulu bundle, use My Verizon. You don't need to cancel your phone plan to manage the bundle.

  1. Sign in to My Verizon using the account that includes the bundle.
  2. Open Add-ons and Apps.
  3. Find the bundle that includes Hulu and review its removal or cancellation options.
  4. Complete the prompts shown and keep the confirmation and effective date.

If you can't find the option, contact Verizon support. This is the route in Hulu's Verizon billing guidance. Also check any Hulu plan you subscribed to separately before activating the Verizon offer.

Deactivate Hulu through Spotify

If Hulu is included with your Spotify Premium for Students account, you can deactivate Hulu without canceling Spotify.

  1. Sign in to your Spotify account.
  2. Open Account Overview.
  3. Select Your Services.
  4. Select Deactivate Hulu.

Hulu says this removes your Hulu access and should not affect your Spotify account. See its Spotify cancellation instructions.

Manage Hulu through Kroger Boost

Your management route depends on which Boost offer you have. Hulu's current documentation distinguishes 12-month and six-month offers.

  1. Check which offer is connected to your Kroger Boost membership.
  2. For a 12-month Boost offer, sign in to your Kroger Boost account and review the Hulu management options on your account page.
  3. For a six-month Boost offer, open your Hulu Account page and review the management options there.
  4. If the cancellation control or its effect is unclear, contact Kroger Boost support before making a change.

Follow the route for your offer in Hulu's Kroger billing guidance. Keep any confirmation and access end date provided for your offer.

Check that Hulu is canceled

For cancellation on Hulu's website, look for a status such as “Your subscription will be canceled” and the confirmation email. Save the email and the displayed end date.

Hulu's status troubleshooting guide also explains these account states:

  • Your Next Charge: the account is still active. Finish cancellation if you want renewal to stop.
  • Your subscription is about to cancel: cancellation is scheduled, with an end date shown.
  • Renew your Hulu Subscription: that account has fully canceled. If a charge remains unexplained, it may belong to another account or subscription.

For Apple, Google or another provider, keep its confirmation and expiration details. Continued viewing during a paid period doesn't by itself mean cancellation failed.

Cancel before renewal or a free trial ends

Check the renewal date and the plan's subscription term, which is how long you agreed to subscribe. A billing period is the interval between payments. They aren't always the same: canceling renewal doesn't necessarily remove payments still due within an agreed term.

For subscriptions covered by Hulu's direct billing terms, the subscriber agreement requires cancellation before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before the subscription term ends to avoid the next term's charge. Finish ahead of that cutoff so you have time to resolve an error. Third-party terms may set different deadlines.

Access timing also depends on the plan:

  • Ordinary paid subscription: Hulu's help describes access through the current paid billing cycle. Check the displayed cancellation date and any longer-term commitment.
  • Ordinary free trial: Hulu's help says access continues after cancellation until the trial ends. The agreement allows immediate cancellation for some trials, promotions or credits, so check the terms and end date shown for your offer.
  • Hulu + Live TV free trial: Hulu's help says the trial ends immediately when canceled.

Use Hulu's current cancellation guidance alongside your offer's terms. For an unwanted trial, cancel before it ends. Apple-billed trials should be canceled at least 24 hours before their end; our iPhone subscription guide explains that deadline.

What to do if Hulu keeps charging you

Start by comparing the charge with the account and plan you canceled. A confirmation for one subscription doesn't establish that another subscription has ended.

  1. Check the final status. If the Hulu account still shows Your Next Charge, the cancellation may not have finished.
  2. Check whether you paused instead. A pause can resume billing automatically when it ends.
  3. Match the billing provider and email address. Check the receipt, other account emails and any Apple, Google or bundle billing account.
  4. Review separately billed plans. Canceling a Disney bundle may leave an original subscription active.
  5. Compare the charge date with the cancellation date and agreed term. A charge may have occurred before cancellation, or a payment may remain due within the subscription term.
  6. Ask the billing provider to review an unexplained charge. Keep the receipt, confirmation and relevant dates together.

See Hulu's canceled-account troubleshooting and subscription terms.

The Cancel button is missing or the page keeps reloading

Check the billing provider first. A partner-managed plan may use different controls. If Hulu bills you and the website won't finish the cancellation, you can try another computer or mobile browser. This is a troubleshooting option, so check the account status afterward to see whether cancellation completed.

If the problem continues, use Hulu's official support page. Explain that you're trying to cancel, describe the error and mention the upcoming renewal date. If a partner bills you, contact that partner about its subscription. Don't treat a reloaded page as confirmation.

You can't sign in to the right account

Use the account-recovery option for the email associated with the receipt. If you can't regain access or a renewal is approaching, contact the billing provider and explain the account-access problem. Don't create a new subscription to reach cancellation settings.

Request a refund for an existing charge

Cancellation and a refund are separate actions. Hulu's refund terms generally don't provide refunds or credits for partly used terms or billing periods, except where required by law or granted at its discretion.

For a charge you want reviewed, contact the company that billed you. Explain what happened and provide the receipt and cancellation confirmation. A request doesn't guarantee approval.

Keep your confirmation and access end date together. When the next statement arrives, compare any Hulu-related charge with the subscription and billing provider you canceled.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel Hulu anytime?

You can request cancellation at any time, but it doesn't necessarily end access immediately or erase payments remaining within an agreed subscription term. The effective date and deadline depend on your plan and billing provider. Check the displayed end date and Hulu's cancellation terms.
